Tasting Tuesday: Field Recordings Wine

Tasting Tuesday: Field Recordings Wine

Join us for an exclusive Field Recordings Wine Tasting to explore unique, low-intervention wines from a rebellious California winemaker.

Event Details

Date: Tuesday, October 13

Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Location: Skip's After Market (8210 Watts Rd Ste. B)

Price: $35 per person

What to Expect

Guided Tasting: Sample five distinct, boundary-pushing wines crafted by Andrew Jones.

Flavor Profiles: Taste unfiltered, expressive varietals like skin-contact whites and juicy, chillable reds.

Small Bites: Enjoy artisanal cheeses and charcuterie paired to match each pour.

Take Home Perks: Get a 10% discount on any bottle purchases made during the event.

Who They Are

The Founder: Created by Andrew Jones, a professional vine nursery fieldman who spent his days planning and planting vineyards for farmers across California.

The Backstory: Because Andrew stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he found overlooked "diamonds in the rough" and started making small-batch wines from these quiet, underrated plots.

The Vibe: Fun, approachable, and entirely without the usual stuffy wine industry ego.

What Makes Them Different

No Pretension: They focus on the actual drinking experience rather than strict traditional rules or complex tasting notes.

Minimal Intervention: The wines use native yeasts, avoid animal-derived fining agents (making them vegan), and keep additives and sulfites to a bare minimum.

A Few Popular Wines to Try

Skins: While many traditional orange wines can taste funky, sour, or intensely bitter, "Skins" is crafted to be incredibly friendly and accessible. It hits you with lush aromas of apricot, orange peel, and dried marigolds, followed by a dry flavor profile of baked apple and subtle baking spice. This texture makes it a total shape-shifter with food. It is robust enough to pair with hearty dishes like roast pork, chicken tagine, and spicy Thai curry, but refreshing enough to drink with a charcuterie board or funky cheeses.

Pizza Nights: It bursts with juicy, vibrant notes of fresh red cherry, strawberry, and dried herbs with a clean finish. It is engineered to handle everything on a pizzeria table. The natural high acidity cuts perfectly through the richness of gooey mozzarella, marinara sauce, pepperoni, and greasy garlic knots.

Salad Days: It is famously low in alcohol at just 9.9% ABV, making it "insanely crushable". It bursts with bright aromas and flavors of green apple, crisp pear, lemon zest, and a hint of fresh green herbs, along with a soft, fizzy lift. Because of its super crisp, zesty acidity and light body, it acts like a squeeze of lemon. It pairs beautifully with oysters, fresh seafood, goat cheese on crusty bread, fried clams, and—of course—crunchy green salads.
